A tool for contributors who would like to clean up their titles a bit
Here is the test version of a tool which may help you to find some repeated words in your Shutterstock titles.
Source available on Github, so anyone can examine it. Does not use any passwords or user data, does not change anything anywhere. Does not write nor store any information. It only reorganizes your portfolio view to show the titles with the repeating words in red. On the left there is a direct link to EDIT the file. This small script is a work in progress, leave me a feedback if you like.
Required: Greasemonkey addon for Firefox
Source: download SS Clean Titles from Github
How To Use?
Early test version! Provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. Use at your own risk.
It is a Javascript script for Greasemonkey addon for Firefox. Use with the ENGLISH VERSION of the site.
Quick start
Install Greasemonkey addon for Firefox, download and install SS Titles Check.
Easy way to do it is to go to https://github.com/plrang/SS-Titles-Check—Pseudospam/blob/master/SSTitlesCheck.user.js and click the RAW button.
After installation, in your Shutterstock contributor profile, under http://submit.shutterstock.com/home.mhtml, you’ll see the new link. Right below [ your footage gallery > ] [ your image gallery > ] links.
[ TITLES CHECK > ]
Click it and it will allow you to browse the image titles with repeated keywords in red.
On the left you’ll have an EDIT link for each image.
Known issues
It may look like it’s loading slow, give it a time.
Use additional pagination links, because original buttons (next/prev page) may not work.
If a page does not load after a click – press F5.

Read about the issue: Spammy titles email. Ridiculous or here. The problem appeared with this email from Shutterstock:
Regarding Repeated Words and Phrases in Image Titles
Shutterstock ContributorsDear (Name),
We have become aware that your portfolio now includes titles with spammy repetitive words or phrases. Repetitive titles like “orange, orange, orange” and “icon arrow, icon arrow, icon arrow” create a poor customer experience, and are prohibited under our metadata guidelines. These titles are considered spam and are not accepted for publishing during the review process. Editing them in this manner after your content has been published is not allowed.
You are now required to edit these titles to bring them back into compliance. In the coming weeks, we will review our collection again. If you do not correct your titles, or you continue to create repetitive or spammy titles, your account may be suspended.

On the next day, after a chaos on the forum another email came:
Clarification about yesterday’s email Shutterstock ContributorsTo (email)Dear Artur,
We would like to offer a clarification about yesterday’s email regarding the titles of your content. This email was distributed to a broader group of contributors than we intended. We sincerely apologize for the concern caused. We want to reassure you that no further action is required from you.
The vast majority of our community work hard to consistently create powerful and descriptive titles to support their work. Our goal is to create a fair and level playing field for our entire contributor community and we value the time and energy invested into preparing your content for license on Shutterstock.
We have robust compliance standards in place to protect the integrity of your content and we are investing heavily in developing a new platform to improve the contributor experience. You may have seen some of the new pages recently rolled out. Included in this development will be new contributor tools to help with your content submission process.
We are working tirelessly on creating the best contributor experience for our content creators and we apologize for the communication yesterday. You can expect that any further communication from us will be detailed, informative, specific, and actionable.
Thank you,
Jon Oringer
