Industar 61 LD vintage lens on a digital camera

Some time ago I got this Industar-61 L/D 53mm f2.8 with another Fed 5 range finder camera. I was interested in it’s compact size and the aperture of f2.8. I got M39-M42 rings already, so it was the first idea to mount it on a digital camera, Canon 40D. Unfortunately it’s too far from the sensor, thus I could try only some macro shots.

Here are a few examples of the experiment. Given the time of the day, I had to use ISO 200 and set the time to 1/200sec or 1/320sec, to hold the camera steady. Certainly some mirrorless camera would do the job better. Anyway, this test shows the lens is in a pretty good shape and does not create any extreme distorsions, like the chromatic aberration or pincuision. Certainly I’ll try to use it one day with another camera, like the Olympus OM-D.
